The Motoscape Banger Rally
What to expect on the Motoscape Banger Rally

Raise money for your local charity

Take Part for Charity

10 COUNTRIES IN 7 DAYS, IN A CAR WORTH LESS THAN £333!

This year why not do something different for charity, are you bored of sponsored walks, tired of coffee mornings then why not choose a local charity close to your heart and get sponsored to take an amazing challenge and tour across Europe like never before!

This team did it for charityThis is a great way to raise some money for either your local charity, or one of the national charities, it's entirely up to you. Usually, when someone asks for sponsorship money they're doing some kind of run or walk etc., which is great, but when you tell people you'll be driving through Europe in a clapped out banger, the past response has been very positive in gaining sponsorship and it's great to see the participants taking part for a great cause.

You can get sponsorship the old fashioned way, by asking people or by using you car to it's full potential. Get businesses to sponsor you, then put their name and website on your car, lot's of people will see it on this epic journey! It's fantastic publicity for the companies sponsoring you!

Unusal Fundraising IdeasIf you don't already know:
The Motoscape challenge is to buy a car for up to £333, or if you already own a car which is over 20 years old you can enter that, customise it and sponsor it for your own local charity. Find a friend or two and join us on the experience of a lifetime. Starting in France, we will travel through the most amazing scenery, cross over spectacular bridges, round magnificent lakes, negotiate breath-taking mountain passes and much more!

Along the way we will complete a few challenges to accumulate points. If at the end of the rally you are in a winning position, you can claim your prize, or allow us to donate the cash equivalent to the charity of your choice.

So what are you waiting for:
Come and join Motoscape and make your event a charity challenge to remember?

Although we do encourage taking part for charity, it is not essential. Registrants are more than welcome to just come and enjoy the Motoscape experience.

The Main Charity for Motoscape 2012 is...

The 3 Musketeers - The ChristieMotoscape have now confirmed our main charity for 2012 will be The Christie Charitable Fund, Manchester. You can read below all the fantastic work they do for cancer patients throughout the North of England. Last year The 3 Musketeers (right) raised £4500 on the Motoscape Rally for The Christie.

If any Motoscapers are looking for a worthwhile charity to raise money for in 2012, have a look at The Christie. All monies raised are gratefully received and the fund raising team Amy Willis, Rachel Steele and Jenny Haskey are more than happy to help you with fundraising, just give them a call on 0161 446 8413 or 0161 918 7425.

A leading cancer centre
The Christie is one of Europe’s leading cancer centres and treats more than 40,000 patients each year. At The Christie we provide;

  • radiotherapy through one of the largest radiotherapy departments in the world, and at our new radiotherapy centres in Oldham and Salford
  • chemotherapy through the largest unit in the UK and also via 14 other hospitals
  • access to clinical trials through the world’s largest early phase clinical trials unit
  • highly specialist surgery for complex and rare cancers - we are one of just two hospitals in the UK treating pseudomyxoma peritonei, a rare, slow-growing cancer of the appendix
  • a wide range of support and diagnostic services, not just for our patients but their loved ones as well.

These amazing achievements have emphasised The Christie as a national specialist. Over 25% of our patients are in fact referred to us from outside of Greater Manchester and Cheshire.

First class care
Our patients are at the heart of everything we do. We constantly receive top ratings for our treatment and care in national patient surveys, and have some of the best survival rates and lowest infection rates in the country.

World class research
Cancer research in Manchester has been officially ranked best in the UK; most of the research takes place on site at The Christie and has international impact.

Our clinical trials unit helps to develop new treatments for a whole range of cancers. 2,400 patients a year will be able to access the latest treatments through the clinical trials, with around 200 drug trials ongoing at any time.

The Christie charity
The charity raises money to help fund cancer research, medical equipment, new developments and core services such as the running costs of the cancer information centre, our complementary therapy service, our wig service and a whole host of patient improvement programmes.

 The Christie

Last year we raised over £12 million which helped fund a variety of projects and contributed to the development of our new radiotherapy centre’s in Oldham and Salford, to allow patients to access high-quality Christie care closer to their homes. This year your support will ensure that we continue to support those in need. One of our key projects is the re-development of our young oncology unit - our young people’s cancer centre which will be designed purely with our patients’ medical and social needs in mind, something absolutely vital to young people coping with cancer.
